Where our data comes from
Everything here comes from official or public sources, and every entry links to the page it came from. We list places and programmes, never people.
Source types, by section
Verified places and programmes (city pages)
Free conversation groups and language programmes run by public libraries and municipal or regional programmes, taken from the official pages and listed in our Come Alone city guides.
Upcoming language events
Events from Come Alone (comealone.app), which collects them from city open-data agendas and official city calendars; we keep the ones that look like language cafés, exchanges or conversation groups.
Language cafés (checked by hand)
Cafés and venues the research team checked by hand against the organiser's own page; each shows the date it was verified.
Tandem programmes
Programmes run by universities, libraries and institutes, with a link to the institution's own page.
First-week plans
Built from the same verified places and from official public pages.
How we check
- Every entry has a link to the official or organiser page; time, place and level come from that page, and we write "unknown" rather than guess.
- Suggestions pass an automatic link check and then a manual review before anything appears.
- We do not publish personal data and we are not affiliated with any venue.
How often it changes
Event lists are rebuilt from the latest Come Alone data; the "Updated" date in the page footer is the date of the last build. Hand-checked cafés carry their own verification date. Groups change their schedules, so confirm on the official page before you go.
Report a mistake
Use the "Suggest" form at the bottom of any city page and put the correction in the note field, or write in the support chat of the Meet & Mint app. A person reads every message.
How it works
- Pick your city. We list free conversation groups run by libraries and public programmes, plus upcoming language-café events from Come Alone.
- Check the language, level note and time on the official page. Most groups are drop-in; some ask you to register once.
- Arrive five minutes early and tell the host your level in one sentence. Groups are built for exactly that moment.
- Want to keep meeting people after? Meet & Mint shows events and people near you — join one alone, meet the group.
