First Week Speaking Map: Paris

Just arrived in Paris? Seven days, seven small steps to start speaking the local language with real people. Free or low-cost, official links, come alone.

Checklist

Tick each day as you go. Print this page for a paper copy.

Day 1

Listen

Go and just listen for an hour. You do not have to speak yet; notice how people greet each other, order and say goodbye. Write down three phrases you hear.

Hi, I just arrived in Paris and I want to practise. May I sit here?

Day 2

Ten phrases

Learn ten phrases for tonight with the First Phrases tool and say them out loud. Ten is enough: greeting, thanks, please, sorry, the bill, and a few questions.

Do I need to speak the language already?

No. The plan starts with listening and ten phrases. Cafés and exchanges expect mixed levels.

Is it free?

What if I am shy?

Each day has one tiny goal and one sentence to say. You can leave after one conversation.

What if a place is closed this week?

The weekday shown is the usual schedule. Open the official link to confirm; the next day offers another option.
