Coming alone — what to expect
- Language cafés are the easiest room to enter alone: everyone is there to talk to people they do not know, and the host seats you.
- Mixed levels are normal. Say your level once; nobody corrects you unless you ask.
- You do not need to be a learner: native speakers are the scarce resource and hosts love them.
Questions people ask
Are language cafés free?
The ones listed here are free or ask only for a drink at the venue. Library groups are always free.
Do I need to book?
Most are drop-in. When registration is needed, the official page says so — we link it, never a third party.
What level do I need?
Usually A2 or above for conversation groups, but beginner tables exist. Check the level note on the official page.
How current is this list?
Places are verified programmes that run all year; events come from the live Come Alone feed and refresh with every batch. Always confirm the next date on the official page.
